Testimonials and SCFE Graduations
I thoroughly enjoyed the 2 year course I completed with SCFE. The tutors were just super, always willing to help and lend support. The course gives you a great foundation for moving into work in the tourism industry across many different sectors. I gained employment in the Airline Industry after leaving and am now working in hotels. I’d highly recommend this course to anyone looking to work in the tourism sector and I’m very grateful for the start it gave me in my career.
If it wasn’t for some of the skills that I learned in Sallynoggin College I don’t think I could have got the jobs that I did. I have seen so many countries around the world through my work. Overall I would say if it wasn’t for doing the Travel & Tourism Course in Sallynoggin I wouldn’t be where I am today.
I loved every minute of the course, the subjects covered and the amazing instructors who throughout the whole course were there and willing to help. I would honestly hand on heart recommend Sallynoggin College and the Travel and Tourism course to anyone interested in the travel/aviation industry.
“I would highly recommend Sallynoggin College of Further Education for everybody. It is an inclusive College where everyone is most welcome and where students mix well and interact with each other. I started my life as a student a month before my 60th birthday and the experience has been absolutely fantastic and has changed my life. I completed three different full-time courses in Sallynoggin which were inter-linked. It is not just a learning environment, it is a community also and I really enjoyed my time there.”
“School & I were never friends! It was difficult at the start learning how to use a computer, but with guidance from my fellow students and encouragement from my tutors, I found my way through, and realised my passion for learning that I never knew I had. I have applied to do the Level 6 course in Sallynoggin and can’t wait to be a student again and sit in a classroom, eager to learn.”
“If you are feeling like you are in the wrong job, contemplating making a change, but worried it may not work out, I can highly recommend making that change. I did, and couldn’t be happier, but I could not have done it without the tremendous help and support of all the staff in Sallynoggin College of Further Education. They ensure every student is supported along the way to achieve their full potential along with gaining confidence and still having fun. Staff take a real genuine interest in all students, bringing out the best in everyone.”
Sallynoggin built my confidence and knowledge and allowed me to go to university to study what I love. The teachers support you through everything and their guidance and generosity will make you feel at home. I’d really recommend the course. I wouldn’t be where I am without it!
My name is Chloe and I completed my Level 5 & 6 in Childcare in SCFE. I really enjoyed my time there, the teachers were so helpful and always gave me guidance if I needed it. I’m now in DCU, in third year, doing the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education. Without Sallynoggin, I wouldn’t have had the opportunity for progression. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone interested in working within the Childcare industry.
Upskilling to a QQI Level 6 Childcare qualification in Sallynoggin College has enabled me to ensure I am right up to date with the delivery of Aistear – the National Curriculum Framework and Síolta the National Quality Framework and all other legislation required to provide a high quality childcare service.
Last year I completed a QQI Level 5 course in Early Childhood Care and Education in Sallynoggin College which gave me the opportunity to continue my studies in IT Tallaght where I’m presently attending an Honours Degree in Social Care Practice.
Sallynoggin college is a gem of a place. Upon entering the doors, you are greeted with a welcoming vibe. I found the teachers to be extremely supportive, encouraging, knowledgeable and could not do enough for each student. Trips were organised for us and different learning strategies were applied. I gained valuable skills during my time there as well as making lifelong friends. I spent two years in this college graduating with a QQI Level 6 in Childcare Management. I was then able to gain advanced entry into Dublin Institute of Technology where I am completing a Degree in Early Childhood Education.
After attending Sallynoggin’s Level 5 and Level 6 Art courses, I can say with 100% certainty that SCFE is a College well worth attending. The approachable members of staff will help hone your skills and guide you onto the path that’s right for you. You will also be surrounded by friendly classmates of different backgrounds and skill levels making the school year both creatively and personally beneficial. After completing the course, I was accepted into the Illustration course that I put as my first choice on the CAO
I would recommend Art, Craft & Design at SCFE to anyone who wants tostudy a related subject at degree level. The variety of modules is a great asset to your portfolio. Although I did not have a Leaving Cert on entry, I achieved 400 CAO points with the full QQI award, which, in combination with my portfolio, enabled me to gain entry to NCAD. I completed an honours degree in Art & Design History & Visual Communication before going on to start my own design and illustration practice.
The course in SCFE gave me a solid grounding in photography, as well as picture editing, book design and display exhibitions. It also instilled in me a skill set and wonderful work ethic, all of which I apply on a daily basis to my work as a professional photographer.
“I enjoyed the floristry course in Sallynoggin College as I learned different techniques, from making floral arrangements, to how to look at different ways of making a business out of it. I also learned computer skills which came in handy, as I now own a florist called Floral Boutique. I would recommend this course as it covers everything, which I liked.”
SCFE really prepared me, both mentally and physically for the realities of a career in dance. I have since performed and choreographed with Dance Theatre of Ireland across Europe and in China.
A combination of a strong core group of teachers and ample opportunity to links within the wider professional dance industry set the tone from which the rest of my career prospered.
I chose this course as its main focus was on practical work, which suits how I learn best. The small classes also provided a safe environment in which to build confidence and technique.
This course has given me the opportunity to grow personally and professionally as a performer preparing me for the acting and performance industry.
Completing the Fashion Industry Practice course has shown employers that I am passionate and driven about my work in the fashion industry.
The business element of this course gave me a good grounding and the encouragement necessary to start up my own fashion business.
The Fashion Design course has helped me build a portfolio and has provided me with the skills I need to progress to a degree programme.
I graduated in May 2013 and the next day I started a full-time job with Designer Heather Finn. This course taught me all about the fashion business, how to hone my creativity and construct garments I had designed from pattern to a professional product. I am now happily working full-time in the career of my choice and hoping to launch my own label in the new year.
Since graduating I have completed my apprenticeship with Peter Mark. I am currently teaching at SCFE and running my own business as a stylist. My most recent achievement is Winner of the 2016 Image Magazine Business & Beauty Award (Young Talent in Hair Category), with which I am absolutely delighted. I was also awarded Group Winner of the Peter Mark Colour Trophy 2013.
Sallynoggin College of Further Education literally turned my life around. Thanks to the staff at SCFE I’m following my passion and am now run my own thriving hair and makeup business as well as teaching others how to reach their full potential and follow their dreams. Thanks to Sallynoggin College of Further Education, you are more than just an education in skills, you helped in every part of my life.
This course in SCFE gave me an excellent foundation and knowledge of the fitness and leisure industry. On completing the course, I went straight into employment.
I wanted to start Physiotherapy as soon as I lost my job, but looking back I think that would have been catastrophic because I learnt a lot at Sallynoggin College of Further Education. The teachers at Sallynoggin College taught me so much about the fundamentals of the anatomy of the body and that meant I hit the ground running when I started University.
This course was challenging at times as the standards set for both Sports Massage and Personal Training are extremely high. However, I found this to be a positive as it helped prepare me for both working in the industry and furthering my education in studying for an honours degree in Strength and Conditioning in St Marys University, UK
SCFE Yoga Training and Holistic Studies was a transformation experience that exceeded my expectations.
I was hesitant to start studying again at the age of 40, but I found many people on my course were in the exact position as me. It was an amazing year – probably one the best of my life.
“I really loved the course, I highly recommend it. Having us teach from early on was great preparation for the real world, and it was done in a relaxed way. Teachers were very encouraging and understanding of any mistakes. I really felt I learnt more by teaching and being taught by a student, as we made mistakes together and fixed them. I really loved the course. Fantastic instructors. I am delighted I did it and I can’t wait to teach!”
