The Advanced Fashion Design course focuses on the creative skills of theme and concept development for fashion design. Core technical modules in advanced pattern drafting and garment construction equip the learner with the skills required to make their own menswear, womenswear or costume collections. Learners will also develop art and design portfolios suitable for application to Institutes of Technology and Universities.

This course is suited to learners who have already achieved a QQI Level 5 certificate or equivalent in Fashion Design.

Entry requirements

  • QQI Level 5 in Fashion Design or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Applicants will ideally have passed the core technical modules of pattern drafting and garment construction or equivalent
  • Applicants will need to submit images of some of their work to date to demonstrate their current abilities e.g.: garments made or under construction; design sketches (drawing work and other examples of fashion or craft-related work can also be submitted if wished.)
  • Mature applicants welcome
  • Applicants may be accepted without meeting formal entry requirements
