The Fashion Design course opens many opportunities in the fashion design industry.  Fashion Design students can specialise in menswear, womenswear, streetwear or costume with tailoring and dressmaking as further options.  Core technical modules in pattern drafting and garment construction provide the learner with the skills required to make their own outfits based on their own designs.  All coursework combines to form a portfolio suitable for application to Degree programmes, although most of our students choose to progress to our Advanced Fashion Design course.

Course Features:

  • Sustainable fashion principles embedded throughout the course
  • Course content includes textile techniques, fashion history, and fashion illustration
  • Work experience in the Fashion Industry
  • This is a hands-on practical course with some written work
  • Continuous assessment with no examinations

Course Facilities

  • A spacious fashion studio, excellently equipped with modern sewing machines and professional dress stands
  • Prototyping (toiling) fabric, pattern paper, pattern card and many haberdashery items provided
  • Well-equipped art rooms with a variety of materials provided
  • Learning resources in multiple formats including digital libraries

  • Leaving Certificate or equivalent
  • LCA or relevant experience
  • Mature applicants welcome
  • Applicants may be accepted without meeting formal entry requirements
  • Some experience with drawing and sewing is helpful but not required
